Description: The Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA), on behalf of the California Environmental Protection Agency (CalEPA), announces the availability of the Communities Environmental Health Screening Tool: CalEnviroScreen Version 2.0 (CalEnviroScreen 2.0). CalEnviroScreen is a screening methodology that can be used to help identify California communities that are disproportionately burdened by multiple sources of pollution. The 2.0 report and supporting documents are available at: http://oehha.ca.gov/ej/ces2.htmlIn brief, the model that CalEnviroScreen Version 2.0 utilized to evaluate the 25 Top Disadvantaged Communities has the following variables:Method 1: Combined Pollution Burden and Population CharacteristicsThis is the method that OEHHA used to rank census tracts in the CalEnviroScreen 2.0 report and ZIP codes in last year’s CalEnviroScreen 1.0 and 1.1 reports. Here, the overall score is calculated by combining the individual indicator scores within each of the two groups, then multiplying the Pollution Burden and Population Characteristics scores to produce a final score.
