This is a dataset of the Environmental Justice (EJ) areas in the SCAG region. The data was created using the base year 2016 data at the level of SCAG Tier 2 TAZs. EJ Area TAZs were identified if they had a higher concentration of minority population or households in poverty than is seen in the greater SCAG region<\/SPAN><\/P>

Analytical methodology<\/SPAN><\/P>

o Calculate the regional share of minority population (minority) and household in poverty (ho_pov1) for each TAZ tier 2<\/SPAN><\/P>

o Any TAZ that has a higher percentage than 68.27% minority population OR 15.04% household in poverty will be triggered as EJ area<\/SPAN><\/P>

o In Excel, use this formula \"=IF(OR(N2>0.6827,O2>0.1504),\"EJA\",\"-\")\"<\/SPAN><\/P>
